graphic design
Throw a stick in a river and it floats downstream without direction or purpose. But when you shape that stick, sanding and refining it with a purpose in mind, you can create a kayak that glides like a dream. I am driven to find the rough stumps of creative ideas and transform them into something more. Not bulky design barges that just drift in a canal pulled by a mule, but nimble craft that can turn and zip in white water, taking advantage of every feature where they ride. From a logo to a layout, I craft a look that flows.
Klein Buendel "Learn"
When KB first started, we were a very unique entity that many of our colleagues couldn't quite understand, and worse yet, weren't ready to work with. Were we an ad agency? Were we a research group? Who are these strangers, and what is this craft they drive? This piece was designed to break down that barrier, showing our strengths and how we could work with them. The initial mailing opened many doors in an academic market that is very skeptical of collateral pieces.
Klein Buendel Site
The KB corporate site challenge needed to combine a modern graphic style
while emphasizing the traditional education environment. We wanted to appeal to a tech savvy audience as well as a academic viewers that we work with. I designed, programmed, wrote, and built the site, as well as writing and distributing all press releases
and media contacts from the company. Jump in >>
Bullwhackers' Poker Invite
With the biggest charity poker tournament
in Colorado, one of the most challenging tasks
is to get local celebrities comfortable enough
to come up and play in public. This invitation puts the recipient immediately
in the game, helping them envision the fun
they could have in the name of charity. This approach worked. We were able to expand the tournament and raise even more money than the previous year. For me, illustrating the company mascot Lucky
as the dealer was great fun, too.
Gratuitous Logos
What portfolio would be complete without a few logos? Everybody needs one, we all make them. Sometimes we even like them after the client is done making "a few tweaks." I still love designing graphics and logos. That and Schoolhouse Rock are what got me in this business. Finding a solution at 3 am the morning before deadline still brings me as much joy as it did at 3 am before final projects were due in school. *Sigh*
