project management
Ever had to find that save-your-life anchor point in an avalanche of details? It's easier if you keep out of the danger zone in the first place. I don't just watch a project from the valley below, I'm an on-site sherpa guide, building cairns and providing maps. Making sure that every team member has what they need, when they need it. I put in anchors and safety lines in the tricky parts, and bring out blindfolds and hot butter tea when it gets really scary. I've found I can't control the entire mountain, but I can get everyone to the top to enjoy the view. Belay on, let's climb.
Uconsiderthis.org
No, seriously, Animal House is just a movie. Uconsiderthis.org is a binge drinking prevention program for freshman college students in use at the University of New Mexico and Colorado State University. To create the site, I worked with research and creative staff in Denver, UNM, and CSU. I started on the project in November of 2004 concepting and writing spec docs for eventual activities. Soon I was casting actors, managing content creation, writing scripts, and directing video shoots. It is still running and is expanding into commercial release.
- 80+ unique pages
- 60+ scripts and videos with looping hold sequences
- 22 individual interactive activities
- One huge yeti of an interactive video survey
WaytoServe.org
Sometimes good service has to be no service. WayToServe.org is an alcohol server training program for the restaurant and hospitality industry. On this project I managed the workflow between researchers and consultants here in Denver, Albuquerque, NM, Berkeley, CA, and Toronto, Canada. This project is quickly transitioning into commercial release, and expanding to include off-site server training.
- 90+ unique pages
- 100+ videos and scripts, high and low bandwidth versions of each
- 25 individual interactive activities
- 5 levels of user access
Move 2 Improve
Two steps forward to keep on track. Move 2 Improve is an exercise tracking program implemented at Athens Regional Medical Center. The project used a series of incentives and tracking devices to keep staff interested in the project and committed to recording their physical activity. The complexities of implementing a web based program within a very strict hospital firewall plus a huge variety in users' computer literacy provided many opportunities for our team to overcome technical challenges.
- 6 training lessons and an activity tracker
- Worked with researchers at the University of Georgia and staff at Athens Regional Medical Center
- Wrote all design and specifications documentation and directed production of site
- Site is now out of study and being used regularly by ARMC to encourage the staff to exercise on campus
